As we move our real estate investing businesses online, we are increasing our exposure to loss. We’d all like to think that Gmail, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook and the others have everything under control. Nothing could ever happen… but it does:

  • Companies have data losses
  • Companies go out of business
  • Accounts get hacked
  • Accounts get deleted for “misuse”

Enter a service called Backupify, a one-stop shop for backing up all your online services. Here’s why it’s worth a try:

  • They make everything easy… just enter credentials for each site and they take it from there
  • They are using Amazon Web Services… Amazon’s web servers are top-notch
  • They are offering FREE signup until January 31

backupify-settings-shotOnline services they can backup for you (for FREE) include:

  • Gmail
  • Twitter
  • Google Docs
  • Flickr
  • Facebook
  • Basecamp
  • Wordpress
  • Delicious
  • Photobucket
  • Blogger
  • FriendFeed
  • More coming soon…

Once you set up the account, they go do the backup and send you an email letting you know it’s done.

While you’re at it, make sure you have a backup plan for your website, blog, and hard drives. I had a major crash last year, for which I wasn’t as well protected against as I thought. It took data experts a month and cost more than I care to remember to recover (most of) the data.
